In case you're just hearing the news, New York Mets manager Willie Randolph was fired at 3 am this morning. Here's the story from ESPN. Has a manager ever lost control of a team faster than Randolph (besides Joe Kerrigan and Grady Little, that is)? His stock has fallen so far in the past year that I couldn't even find any good video clips to pay tribute to him.
So instead, here's the footage from this past weekend's game where the Mets and Texas Rangers were rained out and several Rangers stormed the field to play slip n' slide on the tarp. This type of thing should happen at every rain out. In fact, it should be in the player contracts. Although, I don't understand why it was the visiting Rangers players doing this as opposed to the hometown Mets. Kudos to the Mets fans for sticking around long enough to cheer on the Rangers. Way to support the local team. That type of stuff would never happen in Boston. Or are we officially called the City of Champions now?
